"Everybody is special"

Sounds familiar.. but... that's as good as saying nobody is..

it seems like a convenient way to cover up certain undeniable truths, to pacify the world into the belief that this world is created equal..

Is it pre-determined? Are certain people born to be naturally blessed? Why do some people seem to have things going their way, yet some always seem to have things going against them?
